Caregiver: The Unchosen Profession and Depression

Caregiving is often an unchosen profession and results in 50% more depression, when the caregiver has no time for self care and no time to grieve. Perfection and quilt feelings can intensify the already challenging skills needed to be a family caregiver. Resentment will build if not unleashed in a healthy way. To remedy the isolation of being a caregiver, be prepared to accept assistance when it is offered and share with other caregivers via support group or online forums. Eliminating Isolation and lack of exercise are two key factors to combat depression.
