Dilemna: Where to Make the Effort?
I worked at the hospital, yesterday, for one coworker, so she could be with her son. Now, another coworker wants to be with her grandson for surgery, on Monday. Meanwhile, my brother has been in ICU for a week and general care for several days. My brother will go home today, if he has had no temperature for the last 24 hours. He will be on IV antibiotics for two weeks, with a colostomy. I would love to go help out. I would also love to visit my son and granddaughter. Plus, I want to be making a difference for all of my coworkers loosing their jobs, however, I am unable to be with family or focus on giving away businesses, when working at the hospital. Dilemna, good thing my brother has such a good support system with my sister-in-law, his wife and our older brother. If our older sister wasn’t in Germany, I know she would be there, also. Family versus work & business dichotomy. Thank God for these precious quiet mornings to ponder; Balance and Health, Helping and Self care, Peace and Action.

Where to Make the Effort
Ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed? The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.
Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work.
He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom. Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.
After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!
A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.
“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!”
So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized bill for your services.”
The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer ……. $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap …….. $9998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.
